Often parents want evidence of your experience, but you can’t get that until you’ve got the experience, but parents want the evidence of your experience and… so it goes on…
When you decide to start your tutoring business one of the hardest things will be getting your first students. You know what you are going to offer will be amazing but it’s a chicken and egg situation. Often parents want evidence of your experience, but you can’t get that until you’ve got the experience, but parents want the evidence of your experience and… so it goes on…
One of the things I would suggest you do to help parents get to know you, like you, form that trust is to write a video diary /vlog for your social media highlighting the steps you are taking to get your business started. Talk about what you are doing, but more importantly, why. Talk about your philosophy and approach to tutoring. Show examples of your resources. Talk about your experiences in work and homelife and how these have influenced the route you have decided to take.
You may decide to promote certain episodes, share them on social media, or your website, but video is hugely powerful. People may watch a couple of episodes and although they have never met you, they feel they know you and that in itself forms a massive amount of trust.
