The first testimonial I ever received was as we were driving up to Scarborough to see friends. We had Maureen, a family friend who was always more of an aunt to me (I say was, she died during Covid from Cancer), a truly amazing person. We also had my mum and the kids.
We stopped at the garden centre in Howden as a toilet break and I checked my phone whilst I was there. It said a review had been posted on the platform that I used at the time. I must admit the fear of opening it was extreme. Maureen was the nicest person you could ever meet, but if it had been good, she would have been my biggest cheerleader. If it was in any way negative, well, again I would never of heard the end of it …

Comments: Dawn has worked with my 10 year old son. She obviously prepares well for every lesson, and provides me with a lesson plan in advance each week. Dawn works hard to include themes in the lesson such as Lego or football that appeal to my son and capture his interest.
Dawn is very reliable and arrives promptly. She has a calm and gentle manner that brings out the best in my son,, and she manages to have fun in the lesson. He looks forward to his lessons, which has to be a first!
That was it, I had a raving fan in Maureen and for the rest of her life she always backed me in what I was doing and how I did it. There were times when others suggested I got myself a proper job, but she never faltered, and she never stopped telling everyone else what an amazing job I did.
We all need someone with that belief in us, ideally that someone will also be you.
Never forget how good you are and how by tutoring you are changing the lives of so many people: Especially with something like tutoring, maybe just explaining something slightly differently, giving someone back their self belief that they can do something, offering confidence and a safe space, could change their lives completely.
