“Wow Stacey you were great on stage Friday, I didn’t realise what a great speaker you was and how comfortable you are on stage- have you had training?” Darren.
Yes. Everyday for years.
15 years ago when I first jumped into the world of self employment I was training small businesses with workshops such as Twitter for business or Marketing on a budget. I was also leading a Network Marketing team so would throw myself into presenting at HQ events. I got comfortable with being uncomfortable. I actually hate the sound of my own voice, but I’ve learnt to love the stage.
As time went on I set up a business awards with my previous company and would love the parts where I’d talk about the finalists or present the award. There were times where I’d need to give a heartfelt or emotional speech and I was always praised for this.
I was often asked to speak at networking events and then grew my audience who started asking me to speak to their teams or at their events and I accepted.
You don’t become a speaker over night, like anything you learn your craft by doing the doing. Over the years I have had some speaker training (I love learning and believe you never stop), quite a few years ago I did a speaker training with my now MC for our awards Dave Sharpe🎤 and founder of Woman Who Sandra Garlick MBE and then a couple of years later went on a ‘Be a better speaker’ day with Brad Burton. I learnt a lot from that showing up and sharing my story and I’d say it was that day that made me passionate about marketing assets! Something I talk about ALOT now.
I made a conscious decision not to be one of the speakers at my conference on Friday, I wanted to showcase 10 fabulous speakers covering all the business success pillars. Instead I chose to host the event. I loved it. I still got to be on stage, mic in hand, sharing stories (that even got the odd laugh 😂).
Last year I hosted an event for @By Your Side- Perinatal and several for Helping Hands Charity and what I bring to events is many years of experience, you don’t just get me as a host. I understand the ups and downs of putting on events, I can think fast, help in the run up to the event as well as on the night.
If you are looking for a speaker, an event host or indeed a full events team my DMs are open. Let’s chat about what you’d like your event to be!
“Stacey I keep saying it but you really do create the best events” Jen.

Do you want more leads? More sales? More cheerleaders?
Networking.
I’ve attended and hosted 1000’s of networking events in most formats.
My self employed career started 15 years ago as the owner of a Networking company for mums in business. We grew it rapidly across the UK over 8 years with 34 franchises across the UK with 26,000 engaged members. Selling my share in this in 2016 I went on to create my business as we know it now Business Success Network and Magazine. A network of small to medium businesses, charities and individuals who come together to support, collaborate and get VISIBLE.
But it doesn’t just stop there. For years before and during lockdown I was the the online facilitator for 4Networking, who during lockdown was the first company to get their meetings up online. I’m proud it took us just 2 days to train 200 team and get meetings set up. We ran meetings from 8am- 8pm 6 days a week and at the peak I personally hosted 10 meetings a week. What grew from that was 1Networking which I remain a member of. It’s fun and does exactly what you want a networking group to do- helps you build relationships.
That’s a lot of contacts.
Obviously there’s other networks, I never say no to networking if I can help it, and I never shut the door on them.
People underestimate what you can get from networking and being in the room with other business owners. It’s never about selling to the group it’s about the opportunities that arise from them. Help people and they will help you. Refer them to someone and they will refer you.
Buy them a coffee. I built my business over coffee.
Network wherever you go, it’s so important to a business. That’s why at #bsnconference2023 we’re giving attendees time to network, time to build relationships and time to connect with ea h other. We know people will get so much from being in the room with others. Whether you’re a seasoned networker or brand new to networking I’ve got you.
What are you doing on the 6th October?
