So, how did we meet?
Gloria and I met through the MIB South Aberdeenshire The Mearns group. We were actively engaging within our group and developed a connection.
We decided to discuss Gloria's idea and see whether or not it was viable to each of us.
In order to complete this project, there was a lot of things that had to be clarified prior to us reaching the actual 'YES' stage.
Once the regulations had been cleared, we beavered away behind the scenes to bring about our collaboration. To make the process smooth and hassle free, we followed these few points and you can too.
- We found common ground and worked out where we clicked and what we're both about.
- We got to know each other. We chatted, shared stories, and generally made sure that we had a good vibe going before we entered into the collaboration.
- We were clear about what was in it for each of us.
- We were open and honest with each other.
- There was no pressure, we were up for figuring things out to make it a fab process.
- We kept up a high level of communication. Kept the conversation going and it helped to consolidate the mental images of what the expected outcome was to be.
Although it requires a lot of committment and investing of yourself in order to be able to successfully complete a collaboration, the tears (mine, when something didn't go right), were all worth it.
Networking builds freindships which lead to collaborations.
