Amal Clooney's controversial role advising the ICC on an arrest warrant for Bibi Netanyahu raises questions about the court's decision and the political implications for her husband, George Clooney, and President Biden's administration.

Amal Clooney Advises ICC on Controversial Arrest Warrant for Bibi Netanyahu

When the International Criminal Court (ICC) needed a top adviser to justify an appalling arrest warrant for Bibi Netanyahu, its members turned to Amal Clooney. The ultraliberal British human rights lawyer and wife of George Clooney was happy to comply. In a statement referring to “Palestine,” she said both Netanyahu and Hamas leader Sinwar are guilty of war crimes.

Comparing Israel and Hamas: A Controversial Stance

Think about that for just a moment as we ponder Hamas murdering civilians deliberately, as we saw on October 7, which started the war with the worst one-day death toll since the Holocaust. Israel has tried to minimize civilian casualties with warnings and leaflets. Now critics argue that Israel has used excessive force, that it’s creating a famine and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but being compared to a terrorist organization is a disgrace, as Netanyahu said.

It’s truly shocking that Amal Clooney would advise the ICC that Hamas and Israel are on the same moral ground. Her husband, George Clooney, is a prime celebrity face of President Biden’s reelection campaign. He is reported to cohost a Biden-Obama fundraiser next month and will appear in digital ads for the campaign. Curiously, his wife seemed to indicate that Clooney supporting Biden is that of Biden supporting a war criminal.

Biden's Response and Political Implications

The absurd ruling by the ICC has given Biden a chance to mend fences with Israel. He called the move “outrageous” and said there is no genocide by Israel. He did it on camera. The president currently is withholding 2000-pound bombs from Israelis; he is concerned they will be used in an invasion of heavily populated Rafah.

The far left, including Joe Biden’s party, despises Israel. This kind of anger has fueled violent campus protests, which Biden took far too long to address. Those calling themselves pro-Palestinian demonstrators harassed Jewish students and occupied buildings, essentially supporting Hamas, which wants to wipe Israel off the map. Israel voluntarily withdrew from Gaza nearly two decades ago and basically wants to defend itself.

Joe Biden is in a box, whether he knows it or not. The hard-left liberals are disgusted by his support of Israel. He’s often greeted by protests waving “genocide Joe” signs. Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, are pushing for sanctions against the ICC. The absurd ruling by the court, basically lumping Hamas dictators, who are terrorists using human shields, with the leader of the only Jewish state, Netanyahu, is why the court’s reputation may be beyond repair.

Media Backlash and International Reactions

Meanwhile, the Israelis sparked a backlash by raiding an AP bureau in Gaza and hauling away its camera equipment. A top official from the AP bureau stated, “The Associated Press decries this act in the strongest terms. The actions of the Israeli government shut down our long-standing feed featuring video into Gaza and seizing AP equipment.”

The Israelis were upset because one of the feeds belonged to Al Jazeera, which the Israelis recently banned as a front for Hamas. The Israeli government later returned the AP equipment, saying it needs to study the matter further.

In an orchestrated move, Norway, Spain, and Ireland agreed to recognize a Palestinian state, which at this point is fictitious. That act would seem to reward them for barbaric attacks but also indicates dwindling international support for Israel. Any moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel for what Hamas committed on October 7 is completely invalid.
