Did you know that World Water Day is an annual event and is coming up soon? This year's theme is 'Leveraging Water for Peace'.

Hey there! Did you know that World Water Day is an annual event and is coming up soon?

It is celebrated around the world on March 22nd each year.

It's a day when we focus on the importance of fresh water and creating sustainable solutions for its conservation and management.

On an aside, it is also the day I became a mammy for the first time!!! AND.... on a personal note, I want to mention that we have personally experienced 2 years of being unable to drink the water in our own home so we know how hard it can be when you have to think about and make sure you have clean drinking water for yourself and your children as well as for cooking. We have had to go to other people's homes to shower at times and to neighbours and relatives to wash our clothes and even, to wash our dishes. It is not easy!

We cannot imagine how it is for some families in the world who have no running water never mind no clean drinking water.

Last year on March 30th 2023, I helped to host a 24-hour Networkathon for men and women around the world and the proceeds raised funds to provide 2 water tanks with a 20-year lifespan. The water tanks have provided clean drinking water and washing water to a whole community. It has allowed children to attend school without having to collect 5 litres of water each before being allowed to enter. It provides access to education, it provides hope and opportunity and it provides life and helps prevent illness. Clean water is priceless. We are delighted to share that actually in 2023 we fundraiser and fitted 9 tanks in total and we have heard that there have been NO water borne diseases/illnesses reported in any of the communities which is a fantastic result so far.

More on what World Water Day is!

The United Nations General Assembly declared World Water Day in 1993 as a way to raise awareness about water-related issues and promote action for their resolution. Every year, a different theme is chosen for World Water Day. This year’s theme is “Leveraging water for peace”

On World Water Day, people participate in a variety of activities such as beach and river cleanups, educational workshops about water conservation, and other events to raise awareness about water-related issues. Governments and organisations also work together to tackle water-related challenges such as access to clean water, wastewater management, and floods.

It's essential for everyone, individuals, businesses, and governments alike, to think about how we can use less water in our everyday lives. We should all try to conserve water, reduce our use of water-intensive products and services, and be mindful of where our food and clothes come from.

In Arbonne, a BCorp business I am part of, we have made huge strides in reducing our water consumption in our US headquarters and we recycle water and operate on fully renewable electricity. The goal is to be better for the planet and people through making positive, conscious choices and changes to how we use the resources of the world.

By taking the time to reflect on World Water Day and how we can make changes in our lives to benefit the environment, we can ensure that this valuable resource will continue to sustain us for years to come.

Let's all work together to make every day World Water Day!

If you want to get involved in celebrating World Water Day and making a positive impact, there are plenty of ways to do so! You can participate in beach or river cleanups near your local water sources, educate yourself and others on the importance of water conservation, advocate for government policy changes that promote sustainable water management in your community, support businesses and organizations that are taking steps to reduce their water use and conserve resources, connect with other people in your area who are interested in the same causes, and use your voice on social media to spread the word about World Water Day and raise awareness.

This World Water Day consider how you are protecting our most important resource - water! With small steps, we can create meaningful change for our planet’s future.

Please do comment below and tell me if this was helpful and if you are doing anything this year around your water consumption.

If you would like to donate or get involved in our project with Hopefull Handbags Global and MIB International to provide the water tanks please click here--

www.hopefullhandbags.org and contact Cathlene or contact me directly if you want to be part of a team of 12 people each raising $150 dollars each which will cover all the costs involved in purchasing and installing the tank as well as maintaining it.

If you would like to shop more sustainably consider looking into buying from more BCorp brands, ask me how to get and make your low-tox cleaners that are safer for the planet and our water and think about having a water butt for collecting rainwater on your property.

Love Life,
