A child’s portrait - a gift of art and emotion

Children’s portraits are not just about capturing a likeness, but about capturing the essence of a child, their spirit, their personality.

As I sit down to create the digital portrait of my firstborn (yes, that's my self portrait up there, nice to meet you!), I can't help but feel a sense of excitement bubbling up within me. As mothers, capturing the precious moments of our child’s life is so, so important. We want to preserve their growth, their milestones, and their unique personalities in any way possible.

I power up my iPad, my creative tool of choice, and start scrolling for reference photos. And just like that I’ve spent an hour looking at precios toddler pics, his sweet little face, the sparkle in his eyes the first time he climbed up a tree in the park, the day he recited his poem about ‘mummy’.

Children's Portraits are not just about capturing a likeness, but about capturing the essence of a child, their spirit, their personality.

Meet one of my little models below :)

With every stroke of my digital brush, I watch the portraits of the children I paint begin to come to life before my eyes. It's a magical process, as if their laughter and curiosity are infused into the very lines and colours of my artwork. The joy that emanates from their eyes, the mischievous grin that lights up their face - all of it is preserved in a digital masterpiece you can print again and again.

And with the addition of  a video timelapse, I can share with their parents the journey of creation, from the first brushstroke to the final touch. It's a gift that combines the art of drawing with the power of technology, allowing us to relive those precious moments and emotions over and over again. So, if you're looking for a unique and heartfelt way to make memories last, consider the gift of a portrait that truly captures the magic of childhood.

In the coming days I’ll be sharing with you how his portrait evolves. In the meantime, check out some of the digital portraits I’ve painted in the last year on my website Paola.art
