New Year, New me!

Why New Year, New me is not just a river in Egypt …. Denial.

At this time of year we consistently plague ourself with unrealistic expectations, based around what we think we ‘should’ be doing and not what we ‘want’ to do. 1/3 of New Years resolutions do not make it past January.

The majority of people think this happens because they do not have commitment or motivation. However this is untrue. It comes from lack of clarity. Lack of clarity on the smaller steps of how we will execute the plan and lack of clarity on the systems we use in order to assist achieving said plan. Resolutions lack personal meanings or your ‘why’ for doing it.

We treat resolutions as orders rather than choices. So lets flip the switch and view it as we have choices we can make on a daily basis to move us closer to what we truly desire.

As we are now entering a new year, in again, unprecedented times, let us take this time to be kind to ourself. Speak kindly over ourself and appreciate that once again we find ourself in strange times. This is not the time to set high unrealistic expectations but the time to really hone in on the daily choices we make and how we can become that 1% better, that adds up throughout the year like water dripping in a the bathtub.

  • Look at what you really want to do and WHY
  • Take those small steps consistently and watch the dripping tap fill the bathtub.

Remember the extraordinary comes from the ordinary!
