Understanding my target audience

It's boring. It's repetitive. It's hard work. It's time-consuming. It's never-ending. For me, that chore is cleaning, but for many of you, it's social media marketing.

It's boring. It's repetitive. It's hard work. It's time-consuming. It's never-ending.

For me, that overwhelming and constant chore is cleaning. I walk into the kitchen and all I see are the dishes I haven't washed. I go into my bedroom and my floor-drobe is glaring at me. And as I walk around, my dog Patch, happily follows me knowing full well that he's the one who brought in that mud and who moults year-round...

It's overwhelming because I know I'll never reach an ending, I don't even know where to start and I have to do so much before I begin to feel like I'm making a difference.

For me, that chore is cleaning, but for many of you, it's social media marketing. Once I realised that you get that same feeling when you open social media as I do walking into my messy kitchen, I knew I needed to find a solution to help you.

My solution: Ace Your Media - The Workbook

This is a workbook that consists of 366 small social media tasks to guide you through a whole year of social media consistency. The idea being that if you do a 10-15 minute task today, you can relax knowing that you've achieved it and knowing that you have a plan for tomorrow. It's designed to make it easy for you to get from the point of thinking "I need to do work on my social media" to actually taking action as quickly as possible - because believe me, I waste a lot of time standing in my kitchen dreading the chore.

But that wasn't enough so I had to go deeper. I had to be really honest with myself about the challenges I face when thinking about cleaning in order to understand the challenges you face with social media.

  • If I do the same every day, I'll quickly get bored. So I've made sure that your tasks keep you on your toes, some days you'll be planning, some days you'll be remembering your goals, and some days you'll be taking action.
  • If I miss a day, I have to do more the next day. So I opted for the undated route, if you miss a day you can pick up where you left it and not beat yourself up.
  • If I can't cross the job off the to-do list, what's the point? So I've made sure that for every task you've got, as a minimum, a box to tick.
  • If I find a solution, I don't stick with it. So I've created a WhatsApp Community to provide you with that extra support and accountability. (Link in workbook)
  • Any apps I find to help me don't match the layout of my home and my specific needs. So this workbook isn't platform-specific and will help you regardless of the combination of platforms you use.

In order to promote your products or services on social media you need to know exactly how it's going to help your ideal client. What challenges are they facing? How can you relate to their challenges in order to really understand them?

Thanks for reading! I share a blog like this one every other Tuesday, and if you feel like they help your social media presence, and more importantly, your business - then please consider leaving a tip.

Every time this tip jar reaches £15, I'll run a giveaway on social media so a small business can access my membership group for two months.
