I am so excited for Halloween this year, there's so much to embrace with activities around my home town, author visits and activities in my shop, not to mention the Markets and Events I have coming up over the next few weeks.
This coming Saturday, 26th October I will be taking my mobile Bookstall out to Sneinton Market in Nottingham for the Samhain Event. This will be my second visit to Sneinton Avenues with the first one being the Beltane one I attended in the Spring. The atmosphere then was totally amazing, with a wonderful selection of stalls and activities happening in the Avenues, I am very excited to see what this event will have. I will be there with my stall and a selection of witchy and mindfulness books, as well as some special Halloween titles and other best sellers. from 12 noon until 5pm.
The Bookshop will be open on Saturday 26th, from 10am until 4pm and Amy will be looking after it for me alongside Aunt Lettie, Story Lady.
On Monday 28th October I am super excited that Sammie's Yummy Cakes Treats will be joining me in the Bookshop with her Biscuit Decorating Activity. A small fee will apply and anyone who does decorate a biscuit will automatically be entered into a free prize draw to win a free Halloween Treat Bucket. The shop will be open from 9am until 5.30pm and biscuit decorating will take place from 11am.
On Tuesday I am taking a day off to spend some time with my youngest children and being Mum, watch out for photos of our antics!
Wednesday is a very busy day for Heanor. From 11am on Wednesday I will be welcoming Susan Hughes and Clare C-Saunders into the shop to read from their respective books and sign copies for you. Susan's book is "Sprout's Halloween Surprise". Sprout is very excited for Halloween, until he is told by Pumpkin and Apple that sprouts are just for Christmas. Sprout needs to come up with an idea quickly so he can join in and prove that sprouts aren't just for Christmas! Clare's book is "Charlotte and Arthur's Adventures - The Pumpkin Portal". Charlotte and Arthur are enjoying a day out at the Pumpkin Patch when their friend Amara is whisked away by a pumpkin portal. It's up to Charlotte and Arthur to rescue her. Both these books are absolutely amazing and well worth a look. I am really enjoying "The Pumpkin Portal" so if you would like to find out more about the authors and their books then come along between 11am and 2pm when they will be ready to greet you.
Also happening around the town on Wednesday 30th in Infinite Wellbeing Community Centre there are two cinema showings, one for younger viewers at around 3pm and another later on for older children. Make sure you don't miss out on these Halloween themed films.
Bizy Lizy Books will also be taking part on the Heanor Trick or Treat from 5.30pm until 6.30pm. There are lots of local businesses in and around the High Street taking part so there will be plenty of sweets to go around.
On Thursday 31st (Halloween itself) we have a very special guest visiting to read us "Room on the Broom" in Scottish. I am super excited for this story telling event which starts at 11am. There will also be some craft activities going on as well.
On Friday 1st November I will be open for business as usual whilst I change over our window displays and start preparation for my November campaign, and more local authors visiting to talk about their books.
