How are you today?

I’m all about empowering others to look after themselves and to prioritise their sleep and their self-care. Today I’m taking my own advise, I’ve put the laptop down and I’ve headed out for a walk, I have my ear pods in and it’s time to switch off (well apart from stoping to pen these words).

We see a lot of posts on social media about self-care, make time for yourself & positive quotes but it isn’t always that easy. In my role as a Sleep & Wellbeing consultant I try and make it possible with building small healthy habits that soon become 2nd nature but that’s not why I’m writing this.

I’m writing this because life is hard, we’re all on social media more and more and feel the pressure that we’re alone in how we feel. Everyone looks like they’re living their best lives, they have the Instagram house, the best car on the school run (not aimed at anyone at my kids school, just a generalisation), the holidays, successful business/career etc etc. but do they? Everyone is facing stress and challenges in their lives especially on the current economic climate.

I suppose my reason for this post is to say to anyone struggling for whatever reason at the moment, you are not alone. Take the time you need, it’s not selfish, it’s your life and you need to do what’s right for you. And when you’re feeling up to it, smile at the stranger on the street, like that post of social media, reach out to a friend. You don’t know what others are going through in their lives, it just may not be as perfect as you believe it to be.
