My experience of how to stay calm in the stormy times of your life. When we're faced with difficult times, we can use the wisdom of Jin Shin Jyutsu and the simple holds to improve how we're thinking, feeling, and being.

Quick tips for staying calm in the storm

My go-to calming technique is to hold a finger or to hold my knees as below - these use JSJ wisdom.

I've just finished preparing a 90-minute workshop for reducing stress during exam times. The tips I'll be sharing will help in the moment and, so long as the tension isn't too much or too persistent, can help you through the rough patch.

In the past, though, I found that I needed more help than a simple hold. When I was in a period of prolonged tension and stress, I didn't have the reserves to recharge and renew myself. I regained my health and my serenity by receiving JSJ sessions from a trained practitioner.

I was so inspired and transformed by this therapy that I jumped in and started learning more about how to help myself. After a few years of studying, I became a certified practitioner, approved to help others. Even then, I continued to study and work with friends and family to hone my skills and my understanding of how the body works and how JSJ can support you.

Going beyond just staying calm in the storm

I've had wonderful experiences helping people through JSJ. The time spent together is amazing - calming and at the same time energising. As we work through the flows together, the body responds and you can see the physical transformations. The muscles relax and the breathing becomes slower and deeper.

Even more so, the body readjusts back to centre and balance. It's as though the body has just been waiting for the prompts. As the tension leaves the body, normal functions can resume more fully.

The other part is that JSJ optimises specific body functions and energies. Just like we have different tissues and organs for different functions, we have different energies in our bodies to look after our needs. The connections between the energies and our thoughts and feelings are amazing. They offer the potential for improved mind, body, and spirit.

It might seem a bit much to take this all on board. The beauty of a JSJ session is that you only need to show up, relax, and rest. Gentle touches in specific sequences give your body the prompts to be better - mentally, physically, and emotionally.
