What does it mean to be abundant?

What does abundance mean to you? We usually assume abundance or being abundant means having lots of money and yes, we can be financially abundant. But we can also be abundant in so many ways, life, love, happiness, friends, knowledge etc.

Abundance means having an abundant amount of something. We can all find something we are abundant in as long as we have a positive mindset. Now I know very well that thinking positively can be incredibly difficult, I spent far too many years being a glass half empty girl. And yes, I am also a believer that there are times we may need be a little cautious and realistic. But if we constantly live in the negative, we become negative. A fabulous quote from Buddha “We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow the never leaves.”

 

Abundance is having a positive mindset. We can train ourselves to be more positive and abundant. It really can be as simple as telling yourself every morning “Today IS going to be a good day!” Starting small and simple and being consistent are key to this. Then at the end of the day reflecting on your day and looking for every single positive, someone held the door open for you, a stranger smiled and said hello, a message or phone call from a friend, sitting in silence for 5 minutes undisturbed with a hot drink. No matter how bad the rest of the day has been, your focus has to be on the good. It does take time and there will be days when this is so much harder than others, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is ALWAYS going to be at least one positive thing in your life.  

 

Positive affirmations are also a very helpful way to bring positivity into your life, they help you to focus your thoughts on something positive. By repeating your affirmation daily, either saying it out loud or writing it down, you will develop new beliefs and thought patterns. Affirmations can be a helpful way to start if you really struggle to look for a positive in your life. Short affirmations such as ‘I choose happiness’, ‘I deserve to make more money’, ‘I believe in myself’ are always ideal ones to start with. There are so many you can search for on the internet or make up your own, you can’t get it wrong because it your affirmation, it’s about you and what you want. You can repeat your affirmation to yourself first thing in the morning, on your way to work, any times during the day when you need that reminder and before you go to sleep. These really do work as long as you are willing to do the work, you have to be consistent, and it does take time. But it is really worth it when you notice yourself becoming more positive, happier and feel so much lighter. This is when you really start to notice how abundant you are.
