Embracing Pain: A Journey to Strength and Resilience

Comments · 12248 Views

In life, we all experience pain. It’s an unavoidable part of the human experience. But it’s what we do with that pain that defines us. Today, I want to talk about the pain I know all too well – the pain of loss, abuse, mental illness, and the struggle for self-worth.

I’ve watched my parent take their last breath. I’ve said goodbye for the final time. I’ve survived domestic violence and sexual abuse. I’ve battled with depression, anxiety, and postnatal depression. I’ve felt the crushing weight of not feeling enough, lacking confidence, and struggling with self-worth. I’ve prayed not to see the sun rise another day. I’ve experienced grief, love, loss, addiction, and the rocky road to mental wellness. I know the pain. I know your pain.

But through it all, I’ve learned something invaluable – strength is born from pain. Every tear shed, every heartbreak endured, every moment of darkness has shaped me into the resilient, confident person I am today. When clients sit in a session with me and comment on my strength, resilience, or confidence, they may not realise that it’s because I’ve walked through the fire and emerged stronger on the other side.

I want to remind you that the best practitioners have “lived experience.” They’ve been through the trenches and come out the other side. When I joined Mum/Moms in Business International late 2023 I was encouraged to show that I understand my clients pain because I’ve felt it myself. It means I offer not just expertise, but empathy – a deep understanding that can only come from walking the same path.

So, if you’re struggling, if you’re in pain, if you’re feeling lost or alone, know that you’re not. Reach out. Seek help. And remember, your pain is not a weakness – it’s a testament to your strength. Embrace it, learn from it, and lean into it.

Turn your pain into power, to find healing, strength, and hope.
