The definition of success, according to the dictionary is: the fact that you have achieved something that you want and have been trying to do or get.  For instance, you want something and you achieve it.  Sounds simple, but is it? What if you don’t know what you want, but you know you want a great life; a successful life.

Do you sit down and strategise? Create a written plan, with SMART goals, and follow it that way? A logical route to success.

To do this, you need to have a passion. In my opinion, if your life doesn’t spark you up, then success will not follow.

So what does it take for a woman to be successful? The following is an account on how I travelled the road to success; in my own words.

At the age of 15, my parents and I moved to Cyprus. I was miserable I wanted to return to the UK as I had a desire to attend university; in my eyes, at the time, having a degree equalled success.

So I did return and gained a second-class honours in psychology.

The thing is I didn’t feel successful; the ‘feeling’ never came. I felt bereft; I thought once I had gained my degree, everything would fall into place.

I was lost and I couldn’t figure out what made me happy.

In June 2020, I didn’t realise I was on the cusp of a life changing situation; that has indeed changed my life beyond recognition.

I joined Mums in Business International and for the first time in my life I was part of a community; that feeling of feeling empowered made me realise that I could be successful.  During the 2020-2022, I created 2 businesses that l thought could be successful, but they weren’t.  I questioned myself as to why; and what it comes down to, for me, it I didn’t have the ‘right’ mindset.  I knew I had to change my thinking and in turn, I would have success.

In September 2022 I was part of an incredible book called “. My chapter entitled “Finding My Voice. Once I had written my chapter, I realised what the missing link was to my success; I had unlocked the passion to my life; and that was I had discovered my voice.

My business is Books Galore; I nurture a love of reading through connections. I have loved reading since I was young. It has helped me focus and escape to different worlds from the comfort of my own home.

I have founded a book community on Facebook, which is thriving and gives me joy everyday. To me this is success; I wanted a community and I built it. What did it take? Passion, desire, empowerment and support.  These elements are the key features to a successful woman.
