Lower tox diet: Nourishing your body with more healthful food

The food we consume plays a crucial role in our overall health and well-being. By adopting a lower-tox diet, we can nourish our bodies with clean and organic food while minimizing our exposure to harmful chemicals. Here are some tips to help you make healthier choices:

  1. Choose organic whenever possible: Organic produce is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Opt for organic fruits, vegetables, and grains to reduce your exposure to toxins. Visit the current Clean 15 list and the Dirty Dozen list to help you choose which foods to prioritise growing or buying organically,
  2. Avoid processed foods: Processed foods often contain additives, preservatives, and artificial ingredients that can be harmful to your health. Instead, focus on whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
  3. Read labels: When purchasing packaged foods, read the ingredient labels carefully. Avoid products that contain artificial sweeteners, high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, and other harmful additives. In my planner coming later in 2024, I will teach you how to read labels in more detail or you can access my webinar over in my app where I show you the 7 key areas to live a lower tox lifestyle.
  4. Support local farmers: Purchase locally grown produce and support local farmers who prioritise sustainable and organic farming practices. This not only ensures fresher and healthier food but also reduces the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation.
  5. Reduce exposure to toxins in animal products: Choose organic, grass-fed, and pasture-raised animal products whenever possible. Conventionally raised animals are often given antibiotics, and hormones, and fed a diet of genetically modified grains, which can impact the quality of the meat and dairy products.
  6. Cook from scratch: By cooking meals from scratch, you have control over the ingredients you use. This allows you to avoid unnecessary additives and preservatives commonly found in pre-packaged meals. You can access my Free Recipe Guide here today for some inspiration! Do make use of good quality frozen fruit and vegetables here too, they still count for cooking from scratch and are economical options too.

Please note, that a lower-tox diet is not about perfection but about making conscious choices that prioritise your health. Start by incorporating small changes into your eating habits and gradually build a nourishing and sustainable diet. Your body will thank you!
