Lately, I've been following a 5x5 training program, aiming for 5 reps across 5 sets at a consistent weight. Last week, I was absolutely thrilled to conquer all 5 sets of 60kg on my deadlift. The feeling of accomplishment was incredible!
This week, Steve increased the weight to 65kg. The first three sets went remarkably well, and I managed to smash them without a hitch. However, during the last two sets, I struggled a bit and could only complete 4 out of 5 reps. This brought my total to 23 reps out of the 25 I aimed for.

Now, let's take a moment to reflect on this situation. Sure, I didn't achieve my goal of completing all 25 reps, and it's easy to dwell on that fact and feel disappointed. However, when we shift our perspective, we realize that achieving 23 reps at 65kg, especially considering my body weight, is quite an accomplishment in itself.

It's crucial not to let self-sabotage overshadow our achievements. It's human nature to focus on our shortcomings and not give ourselves enough credit for what we have accomplished. By fixating solely on our failures, we risk undermining our motivation and progress.

Instead, let's choose to be proud of what we have achieved. I increased the weight, pushed myself harder, and successfully completed 23 challenging reps. That's an undeniable step forward in my fitness journey! Celebrating progress, no matter how small or close we come to our goals, is vital for our long-term success and mental well-being.

So, to answer the question, yes, I am indeed proud of my achievement. I am proud of the effort I put in and the progress I made. It's essential to recognize and appreciate the hard work we invest in our goals, regardless of the minor setbacks we encounter along the way.
Remember, fitness is a journey, and each milestone is worth acknowledging. Let's avoid self-sabotage and instead embrace the process, celebrating every step towards our ultimate objectives. Keep pushing, stay focused, and be proud of your accomplishments, no matter how close or far you may be from your intended targets.
