Welcome October 🍁🍂
“October is the opal month of the year. It is the month of glory, of ripeness. It is the picture-month.” A patchwork of red, orange and gold hearalding the culmination of the years growth and the Harvest.
While September was abundant for summer crops, such as salads, tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, autumn gives us crops for storing such as apples, pears, squash and leeks to take us through the winter.
Many churches celebrate this annually at a Harvest Festival service. At this service, members of the congregation might bring gifts of food and flowers to decorate the church building as a sign of their thanks to God. These gifts may later be taken to needy or elderly people in the neighbourhood.
