Understanding Fertility Awareness and Pelvic Steaming: Why observing the cycle is different to transforming the cycle…
In today's wellness landscape, things are slowly changing. There is a growing interest in natural and holistic approaches to reproductive health. Among these, fertility awareness and pelvic steaming have gained significant attention. Understanding their nuances can offer profound insights into connecting, managing and improving reproductive health.
In this blog post we explore the principles of fertility awareness and pelvic steaming, and delve into the critical difference between observing your menstrual cycle and actively transforming it, along with why I am offering x3 of you that are on your fertility journey an exciting invitation to work with me over the next 3 months!
Fertility Awareness: Observing Your Cycle
Fertility Awareness Methods (FAMs) are practices that involve tracking various signs of fertility throughout the menstrual cycle to understand your reproductive health better. These methods can include monitoring basal body temperature, cervical mucus, menstruation, and menstrual cycle phases.
Key Benefits of Fertility Awareness:
- Natural Family Planning: FAMs can be used to either achieve or avoid pregnancy without hormonal contraceptives.
- Health Monitoring: By observing changes in your cycle, you can detect potential health issues early, such as hormonal imbalances or thyroid problems.
- Empowerment: Understanding your cycle fosters a deeper connection with your body, promoting self-awareness and empowerment.
Pelvic Steaming: A Traditional Healing Practice
Pelvic steaming, also known as vaginal steaming or yoni steaming, is an ancient practice that involves sitting over a pot of steaming water infused with herbs. This practice can have various benefits, including menstrual cycle regulation, postpartum recovery, and alleviation of menstrual discomfort.
Potential Benefits of Pelvic Steaming:
- Menstrual Regulation: Herbs used in steaming can help to balance hormones and regulate the menstrual cycle.
- Symptom Relief: Many women and cyclical beings report reduced menstrual cramps, bloating, and other premenstrual symptoms.
- Postpartum Care: Pelvic steaming is traditionally used to support healing after childbirth. Postpartum steaming is how I learned from my grandmother Esther.
Observing vs. Transforming Your Cycle
While both fertility awareness and pelvic steaming focus on menstrual health, the key distinction lies in the concept of observing the cycle versus transforming it.
Observing Your Cycle:
- Observation and Monitoring: Fertility awareness is about observing and recording the natural fluctuations in your cycle. It involves no intervention but rather a keen observation of the body's signals.
- Insight and Knowledge: This practice provides valuable insights into your reproductive health, helping you understand your natural rhythms and patterns.
Transforming Your Cycle:
- Active Intervention: Pelvic steaming, aims to actively influence and transform the menstrual cycle. The use of herbs and steam is intended to create changes within the reproductive system.
- Therapeutic Intent: The goal is often therapeutic, addressing specific symptoms or imbalances to transform the experience of the menstrual cycle.
Why Both Practices Matter
Both observing and transforming your cycle are valuable, but they serve different purposes. Fertility awareness empowers you with knowledge and understanding, allowing for informed decisions about your reproductive health. Pelvic steaming offers a proactive approach to managing and potentially alleviating menstrual and reproductive health issues. This is why my Red Thread Journey actively weaves these womb arts together.
In my pelvic steaming training with Keli Gaza, I learned from Reproductive Endocrinologist Dr Laurena White about the power of an integrative approach. Dr White's integrative approach has phenomenal results, and I have learned so much from her passion, rigorous dedication and the compassion she has for those that she works with.
Integrative Approach: Many women and cyclical beings find that integrating both practices yields the best results. For example, using fertility awareness methods to track symptoms and cycle regularity can inform the use of pelvic steaming for targeted relief and cycle support.
If you are on a fertility journey I understand that sometimes you may feel like every day that you're not trying is a day lost.
But fertility awareness and pelvic steaming are complementary practices that offer a holistic approach to reproductive health. By understanding the difference between observing your cycle and transforming it, you can tailor your approach to meet your specific needs. Embrace the wisdom of both practices to cultivate a deeper connection with your body and enhance your reproductive well-being, and enhance your success for a viable pregnancy.
This is why I feel like it is essential for those working on their fertility health to ensure that they have a healthy and regulated cycle for at least x3 months prior to trying to conceive or entering the process of fertility assistance.
I am calling in x3 of you that are ready to start your journey to work on a dedicated 3-6 month pelvic steaming fertility plan.
This is for you if you are ready to commit to an advanced pelvic steaming protocol to support your fertility journey. To be clear, this would mean that for at least 3 months you will not be actively trying to conceive. Instead, we will be focusing on gaining balance and regulation in your menstrual cycle, transforming any imbalance and working with your womb health to prepare your body for your fertility journey.
If you are interested to work with me simply reply 'YES' to this blog post and we can connect for the next steps. For those of you that say yes, and commit to the 3 month protocol I have an extra juicy invite that you won't want to miss happening in September and you will be the first to know!
