De-bunking the myth that by saying Wedding a supplier adds on an extra £0

Planning a Wedding can be an overwhelming task, and one of the most common misconceptions is that suppliers increase their prices as soon as they hear the word “Wedding.” This is so far from the truth and it is a regular discussion in the Wedding groups about Wedding Suppliers adding an extra £0 to the price!
Let’s break it down, to help you understand the complexity involved in a Wedding

The Complexity of Weddings

Weddings are unique and complex events that require a high level of detail, and lots of different elements to come together, much like a jigsaw puzzle. Most weddings will have an element of personalisation to reflect their style and story; this is from their colour scheme, flowers, decor and right down to the invitations.

You’re only going to get married once and so couples want the day to be perfect and magical which comes with high expectations and can put added pressure on suppliers to make sure it's as perfect as perfection doesn’t really exist!

The other fact is time! From the initial consultation right through to the day itself, including any consultations and site visits in between all have a cost factor to them.

Understanding the Costs

When we break down the costs, it's easier to understand why prices might seem higher for weddings.

Photographers is the easiest example. They’re with you from the moment you’re getting ready, throughout the day and right up to your First Dance. Thats roughly 10 hours!! They’re work doesn’t stop then, they then have the task of going through the thousands of photos they’ve taken to give you the best onespossible and that is no easy task! It’s no surprise that the average photographer is £1.5K!!!

Wedding cakes are another as they often come with more intricate designs which adds to the preparation time. They can’t just be baked the night before! Florists often have to source rare flowers depending on the time of year or colour schemes to then create your spectacular arrangements.

Not forgetting the extra services that wedding suppliers my offer such as creating your timeline, assisting the room turn around and the extra personalised consultations that come with planning a birthday party for instance.

The other cost which can often be overlooked by couples is the running costs of a business, insurance, accountancy, marketing, supplies and fuel. These costs sadly are only increasing which in order to just break even means the higher price tag which there is only so much of that increase that a Business OWner can swallow, no matter how much we love our job, especially WEddings.

Value Beyond the Price Tag

It’s important to consider the value you’re receiving for the price. Wedding suppliers are experts in their field, providing a level of quality, reliability, and professionalism that ensures your special day goes off without a hitch. Their experience in handling weddings means they’re well-prepared for any eventuality, ensuring peace of mind for the couple and their families.

If you are really concerned at the costs then here’s some handy tips

Budget is going to be your best friend and I have a handy Tracker on my Etsy shop - Check It Out

This tracker shows you the UK average so you can have an idea when getting quotes, I suggest 3-5, whether you’re being ripped off!

I would also communicate clearly with your potential suppliers what your budget is, if there is any buffer and what your vision is. Eg what ideas did you have for your decor, what style of images are you after etc as this will really help potential suppliers quote accordingly but also allow them to say no if what you’re after is not in your remit and that is ok too as not every supplier is for every couple!

Also remember it is YOUR Wedding Day, so what do you want! Is entertainment a priority for you more so than the intricate decorations? Then spend more on that, trust your guests will thank you for it too!

80% of brides a week after their Wedding wish they had spent more on entertainment!!
Remember, the right suppliers aren’t just providing a service—they’re helping to bring your dream to reality and make memories to last a lifetime!

Still think Weddings add an extra £0?
