How many times has that been said to you either growing up or now in business?

This is what Christopher Gardner said to his son in The Pursuit of Happiness. Initially it made me wince that he shot his son down!

“Christopher Gardner: Hey. Don’t ever let somebody tell you… You can’t do something. Not even me. All right?

Christopher: All right.

Christopher Gardner: You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.”

If you want something go and get it! Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t. Even if it’s a physical thing that you’re finding challenging, there will always be an alternative way to doing it!

You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.

I do it now, I know that my body will struggle to be a performer because of the weakness in my hip, so I teach! Does it mean I can’t perform? Absolutely not! It just means I know my limitations and follow my passion in another way!
