Time to reflect and plan my stitching

Can you believe it? Only 2 weeks left of the year!

In this blog post, I thought I'd share how 2023 went for me with my stitching projects and share my plans for 2024. Grab a cuppa as it's going to be a fun read! I loved what I achieved this year but have loftier goals for next year. I want to thank you all for being with me in 2023 and I hope you stay for 2024.

Highlights of 2023

In 2023, I had 3 finishes which I am very pleased with. First finish was one I did for friend which I can't remember the chart name but I called Goldie. This was a kit and stitched on 18ct Navy Aida.

Next up was Storytime Sampler by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. This was stitched on a random piece of 25ct from my Mum's stash. I started this back in 2015 and it was one of my oldest WIPs.

Lastly I finished one of my newer WIPs, which was Ghostly Mandala by Ink Circles. It was stitched on 18ct Davosa hand dyed by Chromatic Alchemy. I used DMC 53 for the thread and loved how the variegation turned out.

In surprising news for me, I can only find two new start this year, which were Wednesday by Tilton Crafts

And Epic Princesses by Cloudsfactory. I only have a picture of the fabric before I started but I have done a tiny bit on it haha. It is 18ct Navy Aida and I am using the called for DMC threads.

I started my own challenge for this year called the I Dare You SAL which I was terrible at following! However, I am trying again for 2024, more on that later.

2024 Plans

So in 2024 I want to try and finish 11 projects!, I have a few that are fairly close so think this is doable. I also want to get Sam and Dean to at least half way. I'll be doing another post next week with start point pictures of all the WIPs I choose for 2024.

I will be using WIPGO, which is half Sam and Dean and Half my I Dare You WIPs. I'll also be using the I Dare You SAL (which you can join in with here). I have split it into 2. So you pick 6 WIPs you want to get finished or a set amount of progress on by the end June 2024. I'll spin the order of the 6 in between Christmas and New Year and you try and work on them in the order drawn. I will be adding a weekly check in post so we can share what we have been working on in the group.

Please feel free to share your stitching progress either in the I Dare You SAL group or in the Marney's Mixed Bag Group on Facebook. You can also use the hashtag #idareyousal2024 on Instagram.

Tag me in your plans for 2024!
