So we all have different coping strategies for any stresses we have to deal with.

But as it was world mental health day last week, it got me thinking, how's my mental health at the moment. I say at the moment because it's something that's affected my life for far too long.

Over the years, my coping strategies (although looking back, I obviously wasn't coping) went from partying hard, not eating for months then eating throwing up my feelings to giving my all to work which only resulted in burning out.

My coping strategies only improved when i got professional help. I'm not saying thats right for everyone, but I needed the help of an amazing psychotherapist. She helped me find my voice, acknowledge what I was thinking feeling and learn it's ok to say how you feel. Intact, it's imperative.

Nowadays, I don't eat my feelings, but I have a huge shelf of beautiful notebooks as on a bad day, I can be found in whsmiths or paperchase and even if I dont need it, I have to have to. Credit card at the ready.

Today was an emotional day and I turned to my raspberry Gin. Does that mean, I rely on alcohol to cope. No, but I'm aware it's a slippery slide I don't personal want to risk so that's why it's only a coping strategy on occasions. That said, it's what I needed today and its worked.

What tomorrow will bring and what I'll need to cope will come to light tomorrow, but what I do know is we all need numerous coping strategies, and if that involves the occasional GT and library of beautiful stationery, that's ok with me xx
