Stepping into the realm of networking was an unexpected venture for me!
Yet I'm thrilled to guide you on your journey towards self-discovery within the Mums In Business International Networking Group in Preston Chorley. For those unacquainted, I'm Judith, and my Mib journey began in August 2020, courtesy of a kind invitation from my friend, Lynsey Glover. "Why not?" I thought, and little did I know, it was the start of a transformative experience.
Initially, as I scrolled through posts and witnessed the vibrant discussions among the ladies, I couldn't help but wonder if this camaraderie was genuine. Lacking confidence, I hesitated to contribute, fearing judgment or worse.
After some gentle nudging from the group leader, I reluctantly signed up for an online networking meeting. However, fear got the best of me, and I backed out at the last moment, citing various excuses. Undeterred, I tried again, only to exit the Zoom call when breakout rooms were mentioned.
Why share these initial struggles? Because I'm aware that many out there resonate with my early apprehensions, doubting the authenticity of the group dynamics. I dismissed it as mere hype. Oh, how wrong I was!
Months of encouragement paved the way for my active participation. I overcame my reservations, albeit gradually. Attending a face-to-face meeting was nerve-wracking, surrounded by lively chatter. As a mature Mum and now a Grandma, I initially felt out of place, questioning if I belonged.
Persisting with the support of fellow members, I slowly gained confidence. While I may not be the person who effortlessly commands attention in a room, my nature leans towards offering help. Through Mib, I discovered an accepting community, a stark contrast to my previous experiences where judgment lingered.
Making wonderful friends within the group provided the much-needed support for my personal growth. The warmth and acceptance I found propelled me to attend events, breaking the barriers that once restricted my ability to converse. Today, I strive to be present in every possible Mib interaction.
Last summer, the incredible Leona extended an invitation for me to become a leader myself. The prospect terrified me, contemplating if I could truly take on such a role. Despite my reservations, after numerous conversations, I embraced the challenge. It's been a transformative journey, akin to evolving from a caterpillar to a seasoned butterfly.
If I can navigate this transformation, anyone can—believe me. If you find yourself grappling with doubts, don't hesitate to seek help. It's a daunting step but one that's undeniably rewarding, dear ladies.
I apologise for the length of this post, but I implore you to read it and recognise the potential that lies within this group and the profound impact Mib can have on your life. Attend our events, engage, and let us witness and appreciate the wonderful individual that you are.
Together, let's help each other soar.
With love,
Judith
