As I joined my school of choice Egerton University I was so happy infact I told my parents that I wanted to be admitted the first day as it was indicated though it is not a must of that you get admitted the same day we had less money which was not enough for my fee accommodation and my pocket money so we paid half fee and full accommodation feeThe day I joined, we went with my mother to mess where students eat and the food was cheap. Rice was ksh16 and my mother saw the menu and she knew that ksh800 which she left me with was able to sustain me for a long period of time when I went back to the same mess the next day only to be shocked with the price of food for every meal I had to spend at least 40 which sum to 120 day and per I bought nearly 30 shilings vouchers every day to buy data for my online studies It took me a few days for the money to be depleted after that life turned to hell at that time. My parents had secured a loan to finish my fee before the closure of the portal. I had to use the little. They gave me sometimes I could sleep with my empty stomach since sometimes I call them and they may explain problems whichwere greater than mine . Sometimes I will go to the peoples farm where they had harvested their maize and pick only to cook with the coil for supper, but in class you had to stay strong in order to hide your problems it was clear due to different dressing cord and wearing of one clothes for a longer period of time since it maybe 2 or three pairs, so the slogan was "wash and wear " it was at this moment that I met a councilor moment that i met a councilor (Janet soi) in councling department and explained my problems and she offered to help she enrolled me in the book of needy students and i was given a 21 days meal voucher she also introduce me to a student leader Salome who called the other leaders and they conducted a fundraising as students and they payed for my food for the rest of the semester
