When you’re active on LinkedIn, it’s hard not to notice the wave of content focused on earnings, big figures, and success stories. As a parentpreneur and digital nomad, I’ve often found myself affected by this narrative of scarcity and comparison. Seeing people constantly brag about their income statistics—be it 5, 6, or even 7 figures—created a feeling of inadequacy for me, which I realized was completely unnecessary.
Real Talk: Does Having Many Followers Mean Success?
Let’s start by debunking a common myth: having thousands of connections or followers doesn’t always mean that you’re monetizing your content or running a successful business. In fact, many content creators often focus on vanity metrics that don’t translate into real relationships or revenue.
I’ve noticed that a lot of these so-called “big creators” seem to recycle the same ideas and advice. While some of their content can be useful, I’m sure there are lesser-known creators out there who offer more genuine, insightful, and creative perspectives—but they often get overlooked because they don’t have flashy numbers to flaunt.
Shifting My Focus: What Success Means to Me
As a business support provider for entrepreneurs and small businesses, I currently make a 4-figure income per month. While that might not sound glamorous compared to the big numbers often flaunted online, it is enough for me to live the life I’ve always wanted—working whenever I want, from wherever I want, as a digital nomad.
To me, success isn’t defined by how many figures are in my bank account; it’s about the freedom and fulfillment I get from living on my own terms. I’m done with chasing after big numbers and focusing instead on building a life that’s true to my values and priorities.
Taking Action on LinkedIn
My next step is to focus on meaningful relationships. I’m having a closer look at my LinkedIn network and removing connections that don’t align with my values—especially those who constantly boast about their earnings and statistics. Let’s be honest: it’s all too easy to fake numbers online just to attract clients, but that’s not the kind of business I want to build.
I’m here to create a community that supports entrepreneurial parents, helps them grow sustainably, and puts authenticity above all else.
Moving Forward: Building Real Relationships
I’ve always believed in building genuine connections, and I see that as the key to true success. It’s not about how many followers you have, but how many meaningful conversations you can create. Whether it’s a client relationship or a new connection, the depth of interaction matters more than the numbers.
