I honestly believe there are two kinds of people. Those who blame others, and those who take responsibility. I KNOW that you are the kind of person who takes responsibility. You must have that responsibility mentality to have created a successful business.
There are amazing solutions available to you. Selling your busi- ness is an enormous responsibility. It’s also an amazing opportunity.
I made sure to give you a lot of stories—of successes and failures. Being in business can feel lonely most of the time. But I hope you can see you are not alone. When you understand the problem at an emotional level, please understand that you need to remove yourself from those emotions.
I like to joke with my friends that I enjoy being in my imagi- nary helicopter. I know that I’m a visionary. One of my strengths is seeing the big picture. I don’t like to go deep into the weeds. But the weeds are extremely important. I’ve identified those weeds and have an arsenal of experts and resources at my disposal to delegate and handle those weeds.
That, my friends, has given me peace of mind. Peace of mind is one of the most important things I value in life. Experiencing peace of mind is how I can continue to create an amazing business and life.
Another life lesson that I have had to learn the hard way is that I can’t control everything. That has been a theme of this book. But the reality of coming to grips with this truth has given me freedom. Freedom to face it. Freedom to delegate. Freedom to hire the experts that I need.
