A Better Vision Than New Year’s Resolutions

Let’s be honest: the holidays are already a whirlwind of emotions, commitments, and, sometimes, chaos. Adding the pressure of “starting fresh” on January 1st can feel overwhelming. For many, it’s not the ideal time to suddenly decide that everything in life will change.

A Better Vision Than New Year’s Resolutions

The New Year often feels like a natural time to reevaluate, but I've come to realize that waiting for January 1st to make big changes isn’t always effective. Instead, I believe we can and should make small tweaks to how we treat ourselves, think of ourselves, and pursue our goals at any time of the year.

Let’s be honest: the holidays are already a whirlwind of emotions, commitments, and, sometimes, chaos. Adding the pressure of “starting fresh” on January 1st can feel overwhelming. For many, it’s not the ideal time to suddenly decide that everything in life will change.

That’s why I find it more meaningful to focus on a vision rather than a resolution. A Go To Vision to be more specific. It is rooted in how we want to feel and live, not just what we want to achieve.

Simple Daily Practices

Even during the busiest weeks leading up to and throughout the holidays, I make a point to keep my morning routine. For me, this includes not getting out of bed until I have visualized 5 things I am grateful for, a cup of decaf, a morning reading, and a workout. These small moments helped me set intentions for each day and stay grounded in the present, no matter how hectic things became.

This practice isn’t just for the holidays; it’s a daily habit that can truly transform your year. Why? Because simply setting a goal without taking action won’t lead to change. And sometimes, let’s admit it, we don’t even know what actions to take, so we do nothing.

But when you take time every day clarity comes to the surface. You’ll naturally uncover what steps to take next, and you’ll be taking action just by showing up for yourself each day.

A Go-To Vision Over Resolutions

(as seen in the 30 Day Self Perception Makeover)

If you want to create real, lasting change, Two things, focus first on something that lights you up 100% of the time, something that excites you. Second, on your vision for the life you desire. A vision isn’t about making a one-time decision to change; it’s about consistently aligning your thoughts and actions with the life you want to create.

Daily Practice Is Non-Negotiable

Here’s the truth: Consistency is what makes things happen. The outside world will always bring distractions and negativity, but a simple 10–15 minutes every morning can shield you from it and refocus your energy on what truly matters.

Let Your Vision Guide You

This year, instead of setting a long list of resolutions, commit to a morning routine that moves you forward and does not hold you back.

When you think about your goals, feel them as if they’re already part of your life. Write them down in detail, think about them, and take small, intentional steps daily. Over time, your vision will become your reality.

And remember: your Go To Vision is so much more powerful than any fleeting New Year’s resolution. Starting tomorrow, there is no time like the present, but most importantly, make it part of your everyday life.

Here’s to a year filled with intention, clarity, and transformation. Let your vision lead the way!
