This month, we're focusing on an essential technique: blocking in your painting before diving into the details. Think of this as laying the foundation of a house before adding the finer touches like plumbing or wiring. Without a strong framework, the house and your painting won't stand as strong.
For this challenge, I would like you to practice the 'Block In' method. Start by drawing an outline for your composition using large shapes. Then, paint these shapes with flat colours or minimal gradients. This approach, often called underpainting or base coating, helps you quickly sketch out the composition and establish the dominant colour scheme. It ensures your layout is well-proportioned and that elements are accurately placed.

Whether you're working on a landscape, portrait, abstract piece, or still life, this method is versatile and invaluable.
Feel free to use any images from the Wall Decor Scrapbook images, inside the group, if you don’t have an image in mind.
Here’s what I’d love for you to do:
- Show us a picture of your sketch outline.
- Show us your painting after it’s blocked in but before adding any details.
