What brought me to Networking and becoming a MIB Leader

My story to self employment, how networking has helped me and why I chose MIB and became a leader of the Wigan and St Helen’s Group

I'm Linda and I spent years in a corporate role burnt out and stressed until one day I got the dreaded call that I was to be made redundant .... fear, anxiety, plunged into the unknown but also a strange sense of relief.

I then decided to re train in a completely different field of yoga and holistics which I love.  However lots of new challenges faced me when I took the plunge to be fully self employed as i decided that I never wanted to work for anyone else again.

I soon realised that self employment faces its own set of challenges ... there was so much to learn .. I had to wear lots of different hats ... where could I get advice about actually running a business ..how was I going to get students ...  how could I stop the feeling of being alone and isolated ?

It was then that I found MIB.   I joined a local group and was amazed at the wealth of experience and expertise in the group ... a whole army of women all facing the same challenges that I had ... I got so much help and support and the feelings of overwhelm and isolation I had soon started to subside.

I joined one of the memberships SEEN Together and found loads of invaluable trainings and networking opportunities and this really helped with my overwhelm as everything I needed was in the one place within the MIB community.  I was making connections, learning new skills and getting more eyes on my business.

I really wanted to share the power of MIB to others and applied to be a leader in my local area of Wigan and St Helens and am a few weeks into my role which fits in amazingly with my own business.  I've booked my first face to face networking meeting, I have secured a fabulous guest speaker and a sponsor and can't wait to host it!

If you experience any of the emotions that I've described ... if you'd like support and training I really urge you to become an active member of your local MIB group .. it's not scary, you will find it warm and welcoming and an amazing support to yourself and your business.
