Good morning!
I am taking it back to the very beginning today as it occurs to me that some of you are new here and might not know me yet!
So, who am I?
I'm Kyra, and I grew up in the south west of England in a lovely coastal town called Dawlish - which you may have read about in Re-Writing Christmas! ;)
My mum read to me from a young age and it instilled a level of imagination in me that made me want to write my own books. I wrote what I now know to be fanfiction in brightly coloured felt tips - I'm all about the creativity :p - stories I wish I had kept hold of to re-read one day!
When I was eight years old, I lost my dad, and I turned to two things to get me through. Music and writing. You will see that very clearly in the books I now publish where music tends to feature quite highly!
That love of writing to process thoughts and emotions grew over the years, although it briefly got put on the backburner. I developed agoraphobia after a break up, and I withdrew from the world so much that I became too afraid to even leave my bedroom. It took months and making online friends who I wanted to be able to share things with to get me tiptoeing out of my room and into the rest of the house, eventually making it outside. It was years, though, before I felt okay to go out on my own. I will always regret the time I lost because there were things I could have been doing instead of (metaphorically) chaining myself to my computer, but it wasn't all wasted. In that time, went back to fanfiction for a long time until self-publishing became an option. Then, it was all guns blazing!
After a hiatus during the pandemic, I am now back on top of things and ready to come back with my writing stronger than ever!
