Five Ways to Level Up Your Writing

Looking for some quick tips to level up your writing? I got you!

Writing is a skill. And all skills need to be worked on so you don't become stagnant and stop growing as an author.

So, today, I have five quick and easy tips every writer can follow to up your writing game!

1. Read

I hear authors say they don't read when they're writing because they don't want their style to be influenced by the books they're reading. And that is a fair comment. However, it is SUPER important to read both in and out of your genre in order to be a better writer. It expands vocabulary and it inspires. There have been so many times I have been reading, and the words have been so good that they have made me want to pick up my laptop and get to work! Reading is ESSENTIAL.

2. Write Daily

If you aren't writing daily - and I don't mean hours and hours chained to your computer - then your skills will become rusty. Even if you spend only half an hour a day writing, that will be enough to keep your creativity flowing. It is so much harder to come back once it's dried up.

3. Brainstorm

Sometimes, you have so many ideas, it's hard to know what to do with them all. When that happens, brainstorm! Grab a large piece of paper and write down everything. Make little additions to each idea as they come to you as this will ensure those ideas keep coming!

4. Speak to Other Writers

Other writers are the only people who understand the complexities of the author world. Make connections in writers' groups on FB, or even locally if you have groups near to you. Writing can feel lonely sometimes, so having people who get you makes such a difference.

5. Try Our Community

Within the Write Here, Write Now Writers' Community, you can find other writers, plan, write more often, learn a whole host of things from writing skills to marketing, and so much more!
